Intended use case

The Universal Mounting System V1 (UMS V1) is a set of mutually compatible, 3D-printed attachments, hooks, holders and clamps used to mount devices and accessories on walls, hospital beds, trolleys, poles and other objects in the hospital environment.

Each holder consists of a back part and a front part. The back part is attached to the bed, pole, trolley or wall; the front part slides into the back part and holds the specific device it was designed for (e.g. a humidifier bottle, handheld pulse oximeter, or ultrasound transducer). Because all front and back parts share a common sliding interface, they are interchangeable, allowing easy attachment, removal, reconfiguration and cleaning.

Intended situations of use:

Low-resource hospital settings where standard mounting accessories are unavailable or unaffordable, making it difficult to arrange and secure medical devices properly. This leads to equipment damage, shortened equipment lifespan, improper use, and IPC issues. Local, on-demand production via FDM 3D printing so facilities can safely mount equipment in a suitable position and location. Multiple-use item; permanent vs. temporary installation is context dependent. Explicitly out of scope / not intended: The UMS is an equipment-mounting accessory. It is not intended for patient contact, patient support (e.g. as a grab bar or lifting point), drug delivery, diagnosis, or therapy, and it holds only the specific devices listed in the compatibility table
